Ghana — Official release from the Ghana Commercial Bank has indicated that, the fire which gutted it’s liberty house branch earlier today 28th November 2020 has been brought under control.
According to the release, the Bank assured it’s customers not to be worried or panic because everything is under control now.
The Ghana National Fire Services has also stated that, no money got burnt in the incident because the fire only gutted the first floor of the 6-story building which contained only stationeries.
Meanwhile, an eyewitness say, they called on the fire service around 6am when they spotted some smokes emanating from the building but it took them fours to get to the scene.
“even though we didn’t know it was fire in the beginning because upon seeing it I asked if it could be fire or not but when I approached the security man, he told me they we cleaning the office and it was dust that was coming out of the building and not smoke or fire, so I walked away and didn’t question him further” he said
He stated that “I was shocked that, the fire service here in Tudu didn’t even get here on time because those currently quenching the fire are from other stations which I am told is Tema and Achimota fire stations”.
However, the Greater Accra Police have attributed the fire outbreak to a faulty machine but have refused to make further comments about it and have assured the public to stay calm while they carry out further investigations.
